The year 2026 brings positive news for property owners in Greece, with two major government-funded home renovation programs available. The first is “Anakainizo \u2013 Noikiazo” (Renovate \u2013 Rent Out), which is primarily intended for vacant properties that will be offered for long-term rental. The second is “Anakainizo 2026”, a new renovation grant program targeting older residential properties, whether vacant or occupied.<\/p>\n

The \u00ab<\/span>Anakainizo \u2013 Noikiazo\u00bb<\/span><\/a> program is currently open and is intended for homeowners or usufruct holders who own a vacant residential property and wish to renovate it before renting it out under a long-term lease.<\/p>\n The program covers 60% of eligible renovation expenses, including materials, construction products and labour. Eligible expenses can reach up to \u20ac13,500, meaning the maximum grant available is 8.100\u20ac.<\/p>\n To qualify for the program, the property must meet specific requirements, including:<\/p>\n After completing the renovation, the owner must sign an electronic long-term lease for a minimum period of three years.<\/p>\n All invoices for materials and renovation works must be paid electronically. In addition, beneficiaries may receive an advance payment of up to 50% of the approved grant amount.<\/p>\n “Anakainizo 2026” is a new government renovation grant programme for older privately owned homes. Its objective is to upgrade residential properties that are currently vacant, outdated or in poor condition, making them suitable for modern living.<\/p>\n According to the information announced so far, the eligibility process is expected to open through the Greek government portal (gov.gr<\/span><\/a>),<\/span> on 15 June, while the official application period is expected to begin in early September.<\/p>\n Based on the information released so far, the grant may cover up to 95% of eligible renovation costs for specific categories of beneficiaries, including families with three or more children, large families, people with disabilities and other applicants meeting certain social or geographical criteria.<\/p>\n The programme has also been reported to provide funding of up to 300\u20ac per square metre, subject to income criteria.
