Maisonette renovation in Piraeus
To renovate a 1978 original maisonette and turn it into a modern home, you sometimes need to rebuild it from scratch. So in this house we brought the ups and downs. In a few words, we moved the bedrooms to the 4th floor in the area where the living room and the kitchen used to be, and respectively the living room and the kitchen to the 5th floor where the bedrooms were.
On the 4th floor we built 3 comfortable rooms, a large bathroom and a comfortable laundry room that now houses the washing machine and dryer of the house. Wardrobes were placed in this area for easy storage as well as a small sink for washing needs. On the 5th floor was built an open space that houses the living room and dining room and kitchen of the maisonette. There is also a comfortable bathroom to serve the needs of the floor.
As it is easily understood, almost everything was done from the beginning! New brick masonry was built to separate the rooms on the 4th floor. All the plumbing and electrical supplies were made to serve the new areas of the house. The bathrooms were fitted with built-in sanitary ware with furniture in natural colors from marine plywood. The floors were replaced with tiles on the 5th floor and warm semi-solid polished wooden floor on the 4th floor. The new kitchen with doors from aged lacquer and impressive white Corian counter stands out on the 5th floor as well as the nice construction of the fireplace lined with white brick.
Special emphasis was given to the energy upgrade of the house. Due to old construction and high floor, the house was very cold in winter and very hot in summer. Initially, insulation was placed on the perimeter walls and ceilings in order to reduce the losses of the house. We installed a heating and cooling heat pump system in combination with a Fan Coil so that we can meet the energy needs of the house in all seasons. Each room has an individual thermostat so that the user can choose the temperature he wants. A 14kW wood energy fireplace by Kratki was installed in the living room.
But the energy upgrade does not stop here. Special care has been given to the hot water of the house. We installed in the boiler room a triple energy boiler of the company Calpak which was connected to the heat pump but also to solar panels through a system of forced circulation. When the sun is not enough the system automatically activates the heat pump so that there is hot water in the house at all times.
The house was delivered in full operation to the owners and we wish them to enjoy it with health and always happy moments!
